The single remaining eye in Adrios's hands still faintly glowed, but now it felt as though a life force was struggling to break free.
Legath would notice that the final amethyst eye of Tol was beginning to shake....and it was talking...?
"Is he dead?" A harsh, scraping rasp of a voice hissed.
"I dunno. Is he?" A deeper, rumbling echo responded.
"The spectral barrier is breaking. He's done it! Dearest Brother has finally gotten himself killed! Hah!" The hissing voice celebrated.
"Uhh...is that good?"
"Of course, you enormous dolt! We are free!"
The eye began to vibrate out of control.
Legath closes his fingers around the eye, just in case something happened. He holds on as tightly as he can.
"You!" The harsher voice seemingly addressed Legath. "Current Beholder of the Eye! Is the Ancient known as Reth truly departed from the current plane of existence?"
Legath does not understand what this eye is saying to him. It seems to be telepathically speaking to him, rather than physically.
"What do you mean? Who do you speak of?"
"Fool! Ignorant god! You hold his eye, how could you possibly not know of Reth? The crystaltamer, the tool by which the Heavens command the era! Has he ventured into the Void or has he not!"
Legath shakes his head. "Who is Reth? The only one with a name resembling that is Tol'Reth-"
Legath is cut off as realization dawns on him.
Legath growls at the eye. "I have shown no ignorance. I have only know this 'Reth' as Tol'Reth'Mus. Never has he been referred to as Reth." he says as he waits for a response.
Both voices begin to laugh. "TOL? MUS?" They hooted with laughter. "So Big Brother Reth has earned his rite name? How mature! How elegant. And of all phrases of power, he chose 'Tol' and 'Mus'. Adorable!" Both beings cackle. "So, Reth for eight-souled, Tol for to-"
The jeering immediately stopped. "....Mus for sacrifice, for altruism...that selfish, cunning spider gave his life? Is that the reason he is in the Void..?"
Legath feels the eye actually angering him, for an unknown reason. He wanted to crush it now, but he knew he couldn't. He had to keep it for Tol. Not for this "Reth". His mind swirls, as he does not know what to call Tol anymore. In fact, he isn't even sure he quite knows him anymore.
"What do you mean? So his real name is Reth?"
"No, his real name is Tol. Well, at least, NOW it is. But speaking of the here and now....."
The eye splits, sending out a column of steam into the air and a plume of lava into the ground.
The ground shook and split as a stone-clad creature thrashed its way to the surface, its drills whirring and converting into pincers and a stinger. "The Ground shall rupture," the stone scorpion intoned with a growl.
The steam solidified and materialized into shining wings attached to a long body. A metallic dragonfly, with wings whirring at incredible speed, hovered above the rocky counterpart. "The Sky shall shake."
Legath growls once again, sending a powerful spell flying at both the stone scorpion and the metallic dragonfly, blasting them backwards.
"Hostile! Arrogant!" Koh screeched.
"Mean person! Bad!" The evidently less intellligent Bret yelled.
"You dare threaten us upon the instant of our emergence?"
"What if HE killed Tol?
"Then we shall tear HIS eye out as retribution!"
The dragonfly lunged, claws spread, and the scorpion charged, snapping his pincers in anticipation.
